Swim Levels

The Baby Seal levels are designed for students age birth to 18 months.

Baby Seal I

This level is designed to introduce our youngest beginners to the wonderful world of swimming. Whether your baby is enrolled in a Parent Tot class or a Private lesson, in this level they will be swimming short distances, learning to grab onto the wall and will start the beginning steps for back floating.

Baby Seal II

This level is a continuation from the first Baby Seal class. Your baby will be swimming independently at least three feet and we will still be working on safety skills such as turning around to get the wall and back floating.

Super Baby Seal I

In this level your little one is now swimming independently to the wall three feet or more and can grasp the wall and hold on. The turn around and get the wall skill is now being performed without assistance and we are now increasing the difficulty by introducing, falling in backwards and swimming around an obstacle. They are also starting to become more independent with back floating.

Super Baby Seal II

This level is where everything starts to click! Your baby is now able to enter the water independently with a cue and swim as far as 5 feet! Turn around and get the wall becomes second nature and they are confident with falling in backwards and swimming around obstacles to get the wall. These super swimmers can also float independently for a few seconds!

Super Star Baby Seal I

These little stars can swim independently at least 5 feet to a platform and back to the wall. They are floating independently and able to perform the Seal Safety Float without assistance! They are learning how to turn over to get a breath while swimming and able to maneuver using the Seal Safety Float.

Super Star Baby Seal II

This is the level where your little swimmer is capable of swimming up to TEN FEET while turning over to get air/rest independently! They can perform any of the required safety skills and are comfortable and confident. Your Baby is a SUPER STAR!

The Seal Pup levels are designed for toddlers age 18 months to 2.5 years.

Seal Pup

This level our toddler swimmers will learn how to swim independently 3 feet or more. These Seal Pups will also learn how to get the wall if they fall into a pool. In addition to becoming comfortable in the water, they will also be introduced to back floating.

Star Pup

This level your toddler has accomplished independent swimming 5 feet or more. They are also able to comfortably turn around and get the wall after falling in forward, backward and around an obstacle. They can float independently and will be introduced to turnovers.

Super Pup

Our Super Pup level is achieved by your toddler swimming at least 10 feet independently. They are also able to kick on their back independently. In addition to our safety skills they are now capable of turning over to get air while swimming independently.

The following levels are designed for Beginner to Advanced swimmers.

Happy Seal

The Happy Seal level is a perfect start for our beginner swimmers. We consider beginners any swimmer over 2.5 years old who has no independent swimming experience. By the end of this level, your child will be able to swim at least 8 feet independently with their face in the water. They will be able to fall in the pool and turn around to get the wall. They will also be introduced to back floating, falling in backwards and swimming to platforms and back to the wall.

Snorkel Seal

Our Snorkel Seal level is where everything clicks! These swimmers will be swimming at least 12 feet while using their arms. They will be floating independently for a duration of at least 5 seconds and they will also be learning how to turn over from a back float and swim to the wall. They will also be able to use a kickboard why on their back and will be introduced to our Seal Safety Float!

Scuba Seal

Scuba Seals can swim the beginner Freestyle stroke at least 14 feet. They can kick on their backs independently 8 feet or more. Scuba’s are learning how to turn over from a freestyle stroke to their backs to get a breath. They will also learn the Elementary backstroke and will be able to independently perform the Seal Safety Float!

Surfer Seal

The Surfer Seal level is where we see the confidence and foundation develop. The students in this level can comfortably turn over for air and will be working on learning side breathing. They will be able to swim the beginner backstroke at least 12 feet and will be introduced to the beginning stages of Butterfly.

Sailor Seal

This level the students are introduced to the Intermediate Freestyle and we start to focus on technique and distance. Our Sailor Seals will swim the Backstroke 18 feet or more. They will be learning the Butterfly stroke and be introduced to the Breast Stroke whip kick. We will introduce Somersaults and Surface Dives.

Smart Seal

Our Smart Seals are ready for the basics of stroke development. They can swim Freestyle and Backstroke at least 20 yards, Butterfly 10 yards and are being introduced to the Breaststroke. We are getting them ready by teaching the beginning steps for Flip Turns and they are developing endurance.

Olympic Seal

The Olympic Seal is a Stroke Development class. This is the class where we perfect the children’s technique and endurance and we get them prepared for Swim Team! There are three sub levels for our Olympic Seals. Bronze Olympic Seals can comfortably swim 50 yards of Freestyle, Backstroke and Breaststroke. They can also swim 25 yards of Butterfly. Silver Olympic Seals can swim 200 yards of Freestyle and Backstroke. 100 yards of Breaststroke and 50 yards of Butterfly. Gold Olympic Seals are quite impressive! These swimmers can swim 500 yards of continuous Freestyle, 250 yards of Backstroke, 200 yards of Breaststroke, 100 yards of Butterfly all with Competitive Turns! Once these swimmers achieve Olympic Gold, they are ready for a future career at SEAL SWIM SCHOOL!
